Philip Jenkins, Youth Minister

Meet one of our awesome youth ministers, Philip!

Philip Jenkins has been the youth minister at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ since 2010. He and his wife Laura have two kids named Lucas and Holley. Philip is the chairman of the board of Evangelism University.

How I Serve the MJ Family

I have the greatest job in the world. To put it simply, in my role at Mt. Juliet, I help students grow spiritually. There are many creative ways that we go about that process (Bible study, events, acts of service, etc.), but that’s really what it’s all about at the end of the day. I love training people to do ministry (students, cocoon leaders, interns, youth ministry residents), I love sitting down with students and teaching them the Gospel, and I love letting my imagination run wild with ways to help communicate God’s truth and love to the world.

If you come and visit MJ (and I hope you will!), I’m easy to find because I also help lead worship at church each week—another thing I love doing.

More About Me

It seems like most of my favorite things to do are things that I get to do in my job. I pretty much love any kind of game whether it’s a sport, video game, board game, or a game I make up…I don’t really discriminate, although Ultimate Frisbee is right at the top of the list.

I also enjoy writing, and I’ve written a few books: The Lunch Ladies (written to help youth ministries cultivate an atmosphere of growth), Take Route (a Bible study written to help lead people to Jesus), The Three Little Ministers (a parable about how ministers should build), and Thought Garden: Children’s Edition (a book my wife and I co-wrote to help teach children the importance of planting God’s truth in our minds).

Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my family, wherever we are, whatever we’re doing.
