Laura Jenkins, Director of Counseling

Laura has served as a ministerial counselor at Mt. Juliet Church of Christ since 2010. She also works with our MJYG (Mt. Juliet Youth Group). She graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in 2006 and received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Tennessee in 2010. She and her husband Philip have two children, Lucas and Holley.

How I Serve the MJ Family

I strive to create a safe and accepting counseling environment that helps promote growth and healing for my clients. I believe counseling must treat the mind, body, and spirit. Every individual can learn coping skills and develop tools to overcome hardship and promote growth. I encourage my clients to discover their strengths while promoting compassion to self and others. I use God’s truth to guide them towards the changes they seek.

In addition to counseling, I work with our youth ministry team in shaping and creating programs that better serve our students. I have served as a cocoon leader since our cocoon ministry began in 2012, and have found so much joy through the years in watching young people grow in their relationship with God and with one another.

More About Me

I love running, working out, reading, and spending time with my family. We enjoy family movie nights, taking trips, walking to the park, and just spending time together. I have written a book called Thought Garden designed to help people cultivate a thought life that is firmly planted in God’s truth. My husband and I also co-authored a children’s edition of Thought Garden designed to help kids plant the truths of God’s Word in their minds.
